Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) first female president died of Cancer in London

The first female president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) Mrs. Felicia Oluwaremilekun Oyo who died in London of cancer.

The loss of Dame Oyo to cancer has once again brought to the fore the ravages of cancer in Nigeria. A number of notable Nigerians have succumbed to cancer in recent times. It has, therefore, become imperative for the government to establish cancer-screening and treatment centers nationwide, so that the ailment can be detected early and properly managed to improve the chances of surviving it.

Medical experts say that early diagnosis of cancer goes a long way in reducing its fatality rate. We call on the Federal Government to immediately introduce a programme for the prevention and comprehensive management of this silent killer.
