Fans’ favourite rapper, Olamide revealed that he would continue to release a new album every other year so long there is a demand for it by music marketers.
The Yoruba rapper stated this while speaking at an interactive media session earlier today also added that music marketers were behind his soon to be released “Street OT” album. “As long as marketers are willing and demanding every year, I will release” he said.
Olamide added that music marketers demanded for the release an album following the success of his two singles; ‘Story for the Gods’ and ‘Goons Mi’. He had earlier told reporters at an MTV organised event that he won’t be releasing a new album this year. “Na marketers just call me say make we release album. They told me there is high demand outside after releasing my singles “story for the gods” and awon goons mi” and they told me to come up with something and it was ready in like one week” the YBNL boss said.
He further said the expected YBNL collaboration album will no longer be released this year stating that he wants his artistes, Lil Kesh and Viktoh, to grow, be loved and create a demand for the musical body of work.
“Right about now, because Lil Kesh is still building up and Viktoh is also building up as well, so they really need some more time, because doing a collaboration album now will look like I’m just forcing them on the people which I don’t want to do. I want people to develop love for them and demand for it because if you are pushing an album out and there is no demand for it, it’s not gonna sell” Olamide stressed.
Speaking on the November 21 concert for KWAM 1 tagged “K1 Live Unusual”, Olamide said his fans should expect his best as he’s a big fan of the legendary Fuji star.
“My fans should just expect the very best, I’m going to put in all my heart because I’m a big fan of K1, will do it to make my mama proud because my mum is a big fan of K1 and anything to make my mother happy, I will do it”.
Olamide debuted with RapSoDi in 2011 under I.D Cabasa’s Coded Tunes before releasing the critically acclaimed albums, “Yahoo Boy No Laptop”, and “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Under his YBNL imprint is set his fourth, “Street OT” on November 14.
